People differ, that we know all too well. There are four basic
temperaments present in all human beings, albeit in different
combinations. This accounts for people’s natural differences.
Each temperament has its natural strengths and “weak” points.
Each personality type comes with its own desires, emotional needs,
fears, unique reactions to stress, and management styles. When handling
conflict, it is wise to start with two important questions: Who am I?
and Who are You? The next step is to take a closer look at the ingredients –
good and bad – of the personality types inherent in both myself and the
person I am dealing with. This knowledge can help with constructive
conflict resolution and building healthy relationships.
